In the Apennines you can still find crystal-clear, mostly unobstructed streams. The streams south of the Po Valley carry meltwater very reliably in spring. The mountain chain between the Po Valley and the Ligurian Sea offers relatively unknown but consistently spectacular wild rivers: Trebbia and Aveto, Enza, Lima and Scoltenna. No technical excellence is required here, we slide into the season in a relaxed manner.
But before the rivers become gravelly in the wide floodplain landscape, they cut through deep, impressive gorges. These feature sometimes slightly blocked swells and tricky passages in front of steep walls.
After the journey through the Emilian Apennines there is a seamless continuation Southern Italy road trip “Cilento instead of Chile” instead of. Feel free to come on board for the full two weeks!
