The Werner Shuna Carbon Ergo is a lightweight touring paddle with small blades for high paddling technique. The blade is made of carbon with a central foam core rib. This stiffens the blade considerably and allows for a smooth, flutter-free stroke – even with a strong paddling arm. The two sides of the leaf to the right and left of the foam rib are oriented in a V shape. With this technology from aircraft construction, the blade stabilizes itself along the axis of the shaft. The use of carbon makes the paddle around 30 g lighter than the Shuna Ergo with fiberglass blades.
The Ergo shaft made of carbon ensures the perfect combination of a long-term, gentle paddling posture with moderate weight and high rigidity. Due to the bending of the bent shaft, the grip position is perpendicular to the direction of pull. This means that the paddle, held horizontally, remains in the optimal pulling position, even with the hand slightly open. The wrists do not have to be uncomfortably overextended to the sides. As an adaptation to the open hand, Werner does not build the grip areas in an oval shape as usual, but instead in a teardrop shape. The Ergo shaft noticeably reduces the strain on muscles, tendons and ligaments. Particularly popular with many paddlers, the Ergo shaft is also available with a narrow diameter.
With the Smart View division, the cast of the paddle can be adjusted in 15° steps. A jagged inner shaft allows the paddle to be adjusted. The two paddle halves are fixed together with a spring-loaded push button. Of course, the paddle can also be disassembled into two parts - perfect for transport by car or train.
For an adjustment of the length there is that Shuna also with Vario division.
