The shaft of the Mergner Distance VC paddle is made entirely of carbon, which is the difference to the Distance HE. The shaft is ovalized on one side and has very good longitudinal rigidity thanks to the use of carbon fibre. The blades are identical to the Mergner Distance High End. They are made of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide (PAC) and come with a large turtle sticker.
The shaft is made of pure carbon fiber resin composite. Woven carbon fibers are used on the inside, while unidirectional carbon fibers (UD carbon) are used on the outside. The fibers on the outside are arranged parallel to the shaft and ensure increased longitudinal rigidity. Compared to the classic carbon weave, the ground UD carbon also feels smoother. This means that the shaft weighs around 100 g less than the high-end shaft. Conversely, the shaft is very thin-walled and therefore more susceptible to damage. A thicker one is therefore used for expeditions and sea kayaking Mergner Bionic Shaft recommended (on request).
Depending on your weight and muscle strength, you can choose between the blade sizes M and L for the Mergner Distance VC. The narrower blades also show less resistance when riding in a headwind
The KS-Plus division of the Mergner Distance consists of a plastic clamp (identical to the TNP YP, Kober T8). The two shaft parts are plugged into each other and can be extended up to 10 cm. The angle of the cast can also be adjusted as desired.
The Mergner Distance VC is also available in one piece
