The Werner Sho-Gun Ergo is a universal whitewater paddle with carbon blades. The large foam core makes the paddle light, but still very stiff. Together with the drainage channels on the back of the blade, it allows for a smooth, flutter-free draw. The flat back of the blade also helps with counter and support strikes. The foam core provides buoyancy, making rolling easier. An edge made of Dynel® and Kevlar® protects the blades from abrasion when used in stony whitewater.
The active leaf side is oriented in a V shape along the longitudinal axis. With this technology from aircraft construction, the blade stabilizes along the shaft axis and water can drain evenly over both sides when pulled.
The Ergo shaft made of carbon provides the perfect combination of a long-term gentle paddle position with moderate weight and high rigidity. Due to the bend in the shaft, the grip position is perpendicular to the direction of pull. This keeps the paddle held horizontally in the optimal pulling position, even with a slightly open hand. The wrists do not have to be uncomfortably overstretched laterally. As an adaptation to the open hand, Werner does not build the grip areas in the usual oval shape, but instead in a drop shape. The Ergo stock noticeably reduces the strain on muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Particularly popular with many paddlers: The shaft of the Werner Sho-Gun is also available with a narrow diameter.
Of course, the Werner Odachi is also available with a classic straight shaft
