With the Werner Powerhouse Ergo, one of the most popular whitewater paddles is now also available with an Ergo shaft. With the big paddle blades versus the smaller one Werner Sherpa it guarantees maximum propulsion. The blade is made of fiberglass with a central foam core rib. This stiffens the blade considerably and allows for a smooth, flutter-free stroke – even with a strong paddling arm. The two sides of the leaf to the right and left of the foam rib are oriented in a V-shape. With this technology from aircraft construction, the blade is stabilized along the axis of the shaft. Werner's fiberglass blade is known for its resistance to buckling and breaking, but wears out evenly when it comes into contact with stones.
The Ergo shaft made of carbon ensures the perfect combination of a long-term gentle paddle position with moderate weight and high rigidity. Due to the bend in the shaft, the grip position is perpendicular to the direction of pull. This keeps the paddle held horizontally in the optimal pulling position, even with a slightly open hand. The wrists do not have to be uncomfortably overstretched laterally. As an adaptation to the open hand, Werner does not build the grip areas in the usual oval shape, but instead in a drop shape. The Ergo stock noticeably reduces the strain on muscles, tendons and ligaments. Werner relies on a neutral hand position. The blade is in line with the shaft and can be used like a paddle with a straight shaft, especially for counter hits and rolls. The adjustment is therefore possible without any problems.
Particularly popular with many paddlers, the Ergo shaft is also available with a narrow diameter.
Of course, the Werner Powerhouse is also available in the classic version with a straight shaft.
